Gran Premio Red Bull de España, España, viernes, 04. mayo 2018

The Spanish cathedral of speed lies in the sun drenched south of the country in Andalucia and creates some breathtaking racing in one of the most beautiful regions of Europe. Whitewashed houses and stunning scenery are the backdrop for the first European race of the season – always, always an incredible show!

The 3000th Grand Prix race was a stunning occasion for Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa. Untouchable and uncatchable at the front, the ‘Little Samurai’ made it 16 consecutive Grand Prix seasons in which he’s taken at least one win. Teammate Marc Marquez gained back some ground in the standings too, with the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP duo of Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi off the podium as they struggled for grip. The man who completed that rostrum to make some of his own history was Jorge Lorenzo, who took his first top three finish as a Ducati Team rider. In Moto2™, Alex Marquez did his own disappearing act at the front, in a league of his own for his first ever intermediate class victory – and the home crowd had a lot to cheer in Moto3™, too – with Aron Canet taking his first win.

Incredible atmosphere and some of the best views of the season make Jerez a very special place to watch a motorcycle race – enjoy three in a row when MotoGP™ returns to the iconic venue and tick something off the bucket list.

About the circuit
Built in 1986 and hosting its first Grand Prix one year later, the circuit of Jerez is now one of the most popular MotoGP venues and the focal point for a city fanatical about sport. Set in a slight valley in the south of Spain, Jerez is blessed with consistently good weather and beautiful scenery, its numerous grandstands providing the perfect viewing facilities for up to 250,000 spectators.

With two alternative road circuits (4,423m and 4,428m), which were resurfaced during 2005, Jerez is a popular venue used by many race teams for testing throughout the year, whilst its recently updated corporate and media facilities have proven to be a popular addition to the complex. Other facilities such as the control tower and pit boxes have also been vastly improved.
